I’m Selina Chung — a certified Sound Therapist holding a Professional Diploma in Group Sound Therapy from the British Academy of Sound Therapy (BAST), originally from Hong Kong and now based in Portsmouth, UK.
My practice — Anglo Chinese Sound Therapy — blends Eastern and Western influences, grounded in a belief in holistic, community-based care.
Alongside my full-time career across global sectors — including aviation, healthcare, and finance — I’ve built a background in service improvement, Learning & Development, and project delivery. These experiences have quietly shaped the way I hold space: with care, clarity, and a deep respect for people and process. They continue to influence how I design and deliver sound therapy — with attention to quality, communication, and client experience at every step.
My journey into sound therapy was rooted in a long-standing belief in compassionate care and the healing potential of sound. Offering group sessions — especially in care settings — has become one of the most rewarding ways I can give back.
Whether I’m supporting residents in care homes or collaborating with local organisations, I bring a warm, culturally sensitive approach — grounded in listening, adaptability, and genuine care.
I provide group sound therapy sessions to support emotional well-being, calm, and social connection — particularly within care settings and for people living with dementia or other care needs.
Sessions take place in care homes, community centres, and other group environments, and are guided with attentiveness and flexibility. Drawing on the BAST method — a research-informed approach to therapeutic sound — I tailor each session to meet participants where they are: emotionally, cognitively, and physically.
I use a combination of Himalayan bowls, crystal singing bowls, and therapeutic percussion — including chimes, rainstick, and shakers — to create calming soundscapes that promote relaxation, presence, and emotional ease. These instruments are known for their soothing tones and gentle vibrations, and can be especially supportive for those who may not respond to verbal or physical therapies.
Session length is flexible depending on the needs of each group. While my training supports sessions lasting 60 to 90 minutes, I typically adapt the format to run for around 45 to 60 minutes — based on attention spans, comfort, and specific needs such as advanced dementia.
I currently work locally and welcome conversations about how sound therapy could support your group or setting.
