Sharing how sound therapy supports calm and connection in care homes.
I’m Selina Chung, a certified Sound Therapist with a Professional Diploma in Group Sound Therapy from the British Academy of Sound Therapy (BAST). Originally from Hong Kong, I am now based in Portsmouth, UK.
I am the founder of Anglo Chinese Sound Therapy, a practice that brings together Eastern and Western influences, grounded in a belief in holistic, community-based care.
Alongside my full-time career across global sectors including aviation, healthcare, and finance, I have developed a background in business improvement, learning and development, and project delivery. These experiences shape the way I work, with a focus on clarity, structure, and a thoughtful client experience.
My approach to sound therapy is rooted in a belief in compassionate care and the potential of sound to support wellbeing. Delivering group sessions, particularly in care settings, has become one of the most rewarding parts of my work.
Whether working with care home residents or community groups, I bring a calm, culturally sensitive approach, guided by listening, adaptability, and respect for each individual and setting.
I provide group sound therapy sessions designed to support emotional wellbeing, calm, and social connection, particularly within care homes and community settings.
Sessions are suitable for:
Care homes, including residents living with dementia
Community and wellbeing groups
Settings where gentle, non-verbal support is beneficial
Each session is carefully adapted to the needs of the group, taking into account attention span, comfort, and cognitive or physical abilities.
Sessions use a combination of Himalayan singing bowls, crystal singing bowls, and therapeutic percussion, including chimes, rainstick, and shakers, to create a calm and supportive sound environment.
These instruments produce gentle, immersive sounds that can help reduce anxiety, encourage relaxation, and support a sense of presence.
Sessions are flexible in format and are typically delivered at around 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the needs of participants.
Sessions are delivered on-site and can be discussed and tailored to your setting.
